Hirdie Girdie welcomes guest artists Kori Ann Evans & Stacey Ann Roush for the month of April.
Kori is a greeting card artist, and uses a Japanese style of cutting paper called Kirigami. She started scrapbooking more than 35 years ago and eventually added pop-up elements to her cards.
Her designs are created digitally and then put into a 3D format, the file is then taken to an architectural firm, where all the different colored papers are laser cut. The pop-up element fits within the size of the card and some of the cards require multiple papers, which need to be laser cut and assembled.
Stacey is a 2D acrylic artist and works surrounded by mangroves and wetland beauty, footsteps from her home-studio. Painting has become not only a passion, but her “meditation” and “flow”. Her inspiration comes from researching tropical-themed subjects like birds or flowers and typically she combines several to achieve the best composition, lighting, and shadow.
Roush has developed her own basic color scheme, but adds plenty of accent colors. Friends and followers characterize her work as “unique, fresh,” and “full of vida/life!”
Kori’s and Stacey's work will be on display for the entire month of April...so take a trip over and see their artwork!
Our reception on Thursday, May 1 from 5-8 pm will include a “meet and greet” with our guest artist. At 6:00 pm member artist Renee Farr will explain her process for creating her beautiful glass bowls and share inside information about glass-you will want to be there! Our open house is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 1:00-4:00pm - watch for more information about this!
